About Us
Formed in 2022, the Ninth Yard is a heavy-hitting rock and roll power trio featuring the folk-tinged songwriting and bluesy guitar playing of Anthony Hill, the explosive, progressive drumming of Reid Houston and Kaeden MacDonald's groovy, intricate basslines.
Having experience performing at Calgary music venues and events such as The Ship & Anchor, The 4th Street Lilac Festival and Cowboys Music Festival's Honky Tonk Stage The Ninth Yard is a band who place great emphasis on providing an engaging live music experience. A show from the trio is high energy and often includes sections of extended improvisation, distinct arrangements of cover songs as well as a focus on audience participation.
With the recent release of their singles "Technicolor" and "So What? (I'm Losing All of You)" which take influence from grunge/blues and punk/jam band styles respectively, The Ninth Yard now possesses a small, yet carefully crafted catalogue of studio recordings. As of mid 2026 the band is making arrangements to record and finish their debut album, with its release being planned for early 2027.
